The African Forest Forum (AFF) brings together a wide range of stakeholders in forestry and related aspects of natural resources management and environment. AFF agenda is broad, enabling it to accommodate extensive interests in forestry. Members of AFF are individuals and they can benefit in the following ways:

  • Sharing and receiving useful information and opportunities to dialogue with others freely. Your ideas will be taken as personal and not representing the office or whatever position you represent. The Forum organises workshops, seminars, conferences and electronic discussions that help to cultivate this free exchange of ideas.
  • Through the AFF Website members can access publications, reports and other writings that come out of the work of the AFF and its partner institutions.
  • In order to generate credible knowledge in specific aspects of forestry, the AFF constitutes task forces, working groups, committees, and think tanks, largely from its membership, to analyse and synthesise available knowledge. In some instances, such groups and individuals are commissioned to carry out research or surveys on the issues. All these lead to knowledge that can be utilized at various levels. Members have the opportunity to work with people from other disciplines, specialties and countries on issues of interest that would advance them personally, their careers and institutions.
  • The Forum is often represented at various international, regional, sub-regional and national meetings, workshops, seminars, conferences related to forests. Members with fitting experiences are usually requested to represent the Forum in such events.
  • The Forum will have a good data base on forestry and related areas that will be useful to members and their institutions.
  • The Forum will regularly pass on to its members information from various sources on events, funding sources, employment opportunities, training, research, and related issues. Members can freely take advantage of such information.
  • Members can also post information they wish to share with other people on the AFF website or we can widely circulate it using our listserv.
  • Through our website members can link with many other sources of information related to forestry and other areas.

AFF expects members to support and contribute knowledge to the Forum.
