FAO Launches Survey on Sustainable Land and Water Management

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) has launched a survey on knowledge management (KM) and decision support (DS) methods related to sustainable land management (SLM) to obtain feedback on the existing SLM KM and DS methods, tools and products developed by FAO and the World Overview of Conservation Approaches and Technologies (WOCAT).
UNECE Timber Committee Renamed Committee on Forest and Forest Industry

The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has changed the name of its Timber Committee to ‘Committee on Forest and Forest Industry' to better reflect the Committee's work, which, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), focuses on the relationship of forest management to forest products and forest services.
PROFOR, CIFOR Report on Forest Certification Effectiveness

Collaborative Partnership on Forests Reports to UNFF10

On the second day of the tenth session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF10), a high-level interactive dialogue with the Heads of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF) member organizations discussed CPF's achievements over the past two years. CPF Chair and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) Forestry Assistant Director-General, Eduardo Rojas-Briales, led the presentation.

The first international day of forests was celebrated on 21 March 2013, in recognition of the key role that forests play in protecting biodiversity, storing carbon and achieving sustainable development. Over the past two decades, the relevance of forests has been increasingly acknowledged in the international arena, however, their consideration and regulation constitutes a geo-political jigsaw, whose pieces are dispersed throughout various processes. FAO Working Paper Addresses Issues on Assessing Trees Outside Forests

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) prepared a Working Paper, titled "Towards the Assessment of Trees Outside Forests," to assist in assessing trees outside forests as part of the Global Forest Resource Assessment (FRA) 2010. The objective of the report is to provide agencies responsible for the management and analysis of forests with tools, methodologies and case studies to better assess and monitor this resource

UNECE Reports on Forests and the Green Economy
