Visiting Scientist

Prof. Folaranmi Dapo Babalola is a Professor of Forest Economics and Management with experience in teaching, research, and community service. He holds a B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Forest Economics from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and has devoted his career to advancing knowledge and practice in sustainable forestry and natural resource management. His work focuses on the socioeconomic and environmental aspects of forestry, particularly the role of forests in livelihood sustenance, climate change mitigation, ecosystem services, supply and value chain analysis, forest governance, and rural community empowerment.

Prof. Babalola has received various funding opportunities, including fellowships, research grants, scholarships, and travel sponsorships. Over the years, he has supervised undergraduate and postgraduate students, published widely, made presentations of his research findings, implemented grassroots projects, and contributed to key policy dialogues on forestry. As a Visiting Scientist to the African Forest Forum (AFF), he worked on regional initiatives addressing sustainable forest management, certification, climate change, and integrating forestry into Africa's green growth agenda. His engagement with AFF reflects his commitment to linking research, policy, and practice to amplify Africa's voice in global sustainability discourses.
